The Department of Mathematical Sciences, IISER Berhampur, pays its tribute and respect to Prof. C. S. SESHADRI.

Eminent athematician Prof. C. S. Seshadri, FRS passed away on 17th July, due to cardiac arrest. The department pays its tribute and respect to Prof. Seshadri. Prof. Seshadri will be always remembered for his impactful contribution to fundamental research (Seshadri constant, Narasimhan-Seshadri Theorem to name a few) and for the creation of the Chennai Mathematical Institute. Prof. Seshadri was also a highly appreciated musician. Professional practitioners of classical music were in awe of carnatic vocal recitals of Prof. Seshadri. Prof. Seshadri was an FRS, Padma Bhushan awardee, National Distinguished Professor, Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar awardee, and many more honors were bestowed on Prof. Seshadri. Prof. Seshadri was a charming personality, and just the sight of him was inspiring. Many of the department members had an opportunity to interact with Prof. Seshadri and we felt blessed. We pray for his soul.
